Mid-Semester Report

Lots of good stuff to report! Here we go (in no particular order):

I've been to a lot of awesome programs on campus in the past week. I started going to the "Conversations on Race" discussion series, which is really refreshing. It's great to know that there are actually people at IU who are interested in discussing different perspectives, and interested in improving the community's racial climate. So yeah, we meet 2 hours per week for 5 weeks, and I think it should be really awesome.

Another program I went to was put on by the Asian Culture Center and the GLBT Student Support Services Office. It's part of the "Over a Cup of Tea" series, and this discussion was called "Asian Homosexuality: A Cross Cultural Experience of a Different Kind." It really opened my eyes to the struggle that international homosexual students have at IU. They can go to the cultural center with which they identify, but they may be looked down upon because they're gay. They can go to a GLBT group, but may not be accepted because they're from a different country and culture. An international GLBT group was started, but it wasn't successful, because there were tons of cultural and language barriers. So, all in all, it was an awesome program. I've always wanted to go to something put on by the Asian Culture Center, but -- like many people on this campus -- I'm always hesitant, because I don't identify with the culture. But I've come to realize that most cultural centers are happy to have people of all cultures at their event.

Anyhoo, the Wina-Freds have some shows coming up. Here's the info:

Of course, Jada gets us all the GAYMO shows. Gosh.

Another big piece of news is that I just ordered a Powerbook G4! I got the 15".

She's so pretty. I got it from the refurbished section, but along with the AppleCare Warranty, it's just like brand new. If anything happens to it for 3 years, I can get it fixed. Woooo!

Is it sad that I'm extremely excited about Dashboard?

Man oh man, good times.

Tonight I'm going with a group of people to see The Wedding Crashers at the Union. It shall be glorious.

On with the fun linkies!
--Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Harriet Miers, has her own blog! OMG!
--I love Animal Anomalies
--The Gallery of Regrettable Food
--Chickenhead presents... Desktop Bonanza!
--Republicans suck. Horribly.
--A new cure for constipation
--Um, duh.
--Unlock is a fun game.

That's about it for now, folks!
