Sorry mom and dad

Look who can't stop getting inked.

This is on the inside of my upper right arm (next to the guitar), and was done at Anubis in San Francisco, about a block away from Haight-Ashbury. It is a sugar skull from the Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos. This day is a celebration of deceased ancestors. Instead of mourning, it is to celebrate and honor the lives of those who have passed.

I've been wanting this tattoo for quite some time, and found an artist in San Francisco who could do exactly what I wanted. I got it done last Sunday, and it's healing quite nicely. Sorry mama, I hope you have a cosmo nearby.

Anyway, it's the end of the 2nd week at the NSRC summer institute, and I feel like I've learned so much and met so many amazing people. I'm definitely going to be sad to leave, because I feel like I've made great friends, and I don't know how many people I'll get to see again. But, I'm definitely going to apply to the Masters program in Human Sexuality here at SFSU, and if I get in and choose to come here, I'll see a lot of these people again.

I have tons of work to do this weekend, but am still going to have a good time. A group of girls are going out together on Saturday night, and on Sunday a girl who lives in San Fran and is part of the institute is having a birthday party at a dance club. So, I'm going to finish my papers beforehand, then party hearty that night.

I really wish I had more time to explore San Francisco, because I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of cool parts of the city. Hopefully tomorrow we'll be able to explore a little more.

Anyway, it's off to the Apple store in the mall, because my computer won't turn on. Freakin powerbook. Hope everyone's enjoying their week, and mom and dad, I hope you didn't have a heart attack. But I know that deep down you still love me! You can't deny it!!

Yes we still love you! We just wish you and your brother would stop mutilating your bodies!

BTW...This tatoo is no surprise. The other two were not balanced without a third. But now they are very balanced so you don't need anymore (or you'll be out of balance again!).

Oh yeah... here's your song!

Oh Lydia, oh Lydia, say, have you met Lydia?
Lydia The Tattooed Lady.
She has eyes that folks adore so,
and a torso even more so.
Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Queen of Tattoo.
On her back is The Battle of Waterloo.
Beside it, The Wreck of the Hesperus too.
And proudly above waves the red, white, and blue.
You can learn a lot from Lydia!

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

When her robe is unfurled she will show you the world,
if you step up and tell her where.
For a dime you can see Kankakee or Paree,
or Washington crossing The Delaware.

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

Oh Lydia, oh Lydia, say, have you met Lydia?
Lydia The Tattooed Lady.
When her muscles start relaxin',
up the hill comes Andrew Jackson.
Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Queen of them all.
For two bits she will do a mazurka in jazz,
with a view of Niagara that nobody has.
And on a clear day you can see Alcatraz.
You can learn a lot from Lydia!

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

Come along and see Buffalo Bill with his lasso.
Just a little classic by Mendel Picasso.
Here is Captain Spaulding exploring the Amazon.
Here's Godiva, but with her pajamas on.

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

Here is Grover Whelan unveilin' The Trilon.
Over on the west coast we have Treasure Isle-on.
Here's Nijinsky a-doin' the rhumba.
Here's her social security numba.

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Champ of them all.
She once swept an Admiral clear off his feet.
The ships on her hips made his heart skip a beat.
And now the old boy's in command of the fleet,
for he went and married Lydia!

I said Lydia...
(He said Lydia...)
They said Lydia...
We said Lydia, la, la!

(I kid, I kid!)
