The amount of paper wasted at Indiana University infuriates me. You'd think that with the implementation of all things electronic, we could cut down on paper use. I'd venture to say that it actually increases paper use. Of course, I don't consider myself an environmentalist, nor do I do my part to save the planet (besides recycling all of my beer bottles and macaroni and cheese boxes), but this afternoon alone, I went through EIGHT reams of paper in my office. EIGHT! This morning when I picked up my mail from the Center Desk, I recycled about 3/4ths of it. Granted, I did recycle it and didn't throw it in the trash, but ultimately it would be best if those paper products weren't created/printed in the first place. Bah!
Let's hope this sustainability task force makes a difference at IU.

at my work they just removed all of the printers in the buildings and replaced them with one or two common printers in each building. also, the new printers are set to always print front and back. it cut the paper consumption down by 70%.
You think that task force will make a difference? Dream on, sister!
