The student hourlies who work for me at Collins are undertaking a huge task-- moving all of our old applications (from '72 until now) from large binders to hanging folders. It's a boring task, but it's always fun to look through old applications, especially because Collins asks for supplemental materials (writing samples, art, music, recommendation letters, etc.) with applications. I've seen everything from incredibly impressive art work, to photos of someone's chickens, to a CD of music recordings entitled "The Never-Ending Road to Forever" (which made me laugh heartily for a good 10 minutes).
Shown below are the materials that a prospective resident sent in 1993. I removed the resident's name from each picture. But boy oh boy did I enjoy this stuff! I hope you do too. As always, just click on a picture to see it full-size.
